Happy Easter

A little belated, but with good reason, which I will share later, when things calm down.  For now, I wish you all a Happy Easter and lots of bunny love ~

This is Me

Walker took this photo of me last night, before we went out for the evening to a good friend's going-away party.  Friday night dates are rare for us, as I am usually working, but I took the evening off just for the party, and I was pretty excited to be going out for a change.  Might just have to do this more often ~

Spring!

It's colder than ever here, but the crocus does not care. They are blooming away in my garden.
Happy Spring, Peeps!!

You Think I'd Learn

It's warming up here, and of course I'm anxious for spring. So when Walker and I ran errands today, and I saw a sign for half off a spray tan at the tanning salon in the strip mall, I ducked in while Walker got a haircut next door. Fifteen minutes later, we were both done, and we headed out for lunch. By the time we got home, it was obvious there was a problem:

You would think after I ended up with orange feet I would have given up on spray tanning.  Maybe next spring I'll know better ~

Happy Birthday, Cubby!

Jacob is turning 13 this week, so I thought I'd share some photos. Just one problem: he's a teenager.  When I try to take his photo, I get stuff like this:

Luckily, I found a way around his lack of cooperation......baby pictures!
Cubby and me, on the first day of his life ~
Cubby's second birthday ~

Cubby. age three.  Ten years later, he's still just as cute as a bug.  But you'll have to take my word for it.

Checking In

Oh, my gosh, Peeps.....it feels like forever since I made an entry.  We're mostly all fine, just busier than ever.  The puppy nieces finally went home, which was kind of a relief.  At the end of their visit I starting having nightmares that one of them, usually Lily, got hurt, or worse.  On her last day with us I ended up taking away her bandana, so it couldn't get caught on something and choke her.  I took away her squeaky toys, so she couldn't disembowel them and and choke on the squeaker part.  I took away her ball, so she wouldn't chase it down the basement stairs.....It bears mentioning that Lily never in her life destroyed a squeaky toy.  The whole thing was a product of my own over active imagination.  And I don't know why I thought her bandana could be a problem but her collar was fine.  And the basement stairs?  Well, there's a closed door at the top, for one thing.  Plus, even when the door is open she won't go down there.  I think I was just over stressed.  Even though I sleep during the day, the dogs do not.  I was more than a little tired after nearly two weeks.  I was very happy to pick my sister up at the airport and deliver her, along with the dogs, home again, safe and sound.

While all this puppy drama was happening in my head, little Squeak broke the bone in his upper arm doing.....not much.  Turns out, he had a cyst in his bone that weakened it to the point that it fractured when I raised his arm above his head.  The doctor says these types of cysts are fairly common and usually clear up on their own, if they don't cause a fracture.  He was just unlucky.   Most kids never know they have one.  By the time a child is 15, they usually don't get bone cysts any more.

Squeak's fracture was too high to cast, so the poor kid has to spend the next three months wearing an immobilizer.  He can't even tie his own shoes, and he will miss the whole spring soccer season.  After the break heals, he'll get evaluated again, and hopefully won't need surgery or further treatment.  Nothing to do but wait, in the meantime.
