Update

I didn't make it to the end of the month for my blood pressure check at the clinic.  On Thursday, the nurse reviewed my chart and rescheduled my appointment for the following day, after offering me the option of going straight into urgent care.  Now, Walker tells me I worry too much about nothing, but how often does something like that happen?  I took the Friday appointment, and before work I had the blood pressure check, an exam,  lab work, and a follow up appointment scheduled for next month.  I have to take blood pressure medication, which I'm not thrilled about, but I'm already exercising regularly, I don't add salt to my food, I limit my caffeine, etc.  So meds it is.

  1. You need to control it with attitude too. Be mellow and calm. I get white coat syndrome and mine goes through the roof.

  3. Good luck with the BP meds. The first one they gave me, an ACE inhibiter, cause me to have a chronic dry cough. This happens to 1/3 of the people who take ACE meds, so if you get a cough, you will know why. Wish somebody had told me, so I wouldn't have wondered if I had cancer or something. The second BP med they put me on did very little to lower my blood pressure. Now I'm taking a water pill, which works great for me.

    1. Mine is a water pill, too, with the possibility of adding a beta blocker in a few weeks if this doesn't do it. I took the ACE inhibiter years ago, and I also had the cough, so I was switched to a beta blocker and had no issues from that. I'm hoping, with continued exercise and a few more pounds lost, to be off these meds in a few months. Fingers crossed ~
